LWC taking applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance

The Louisiana Workforce Commission is accepting applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) in accordance with a federal major disaster declaration for businesses and individuals in 36 parishes due to flooding that began March 8. Individuals whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted as a result of the flooding and who live in one of the affected parishes may be eligible.

    Filing a claim for Disaster Unemployment Assistance is handled through the HiRE unemployment claims portal:

  • If you already have a HiRE account and wish to file a Disaster Unemployment Assistance claim, click here.
  • If you are new to HiRE and wish to file a Disaster Assistance Claim, click here. Browse down the page to the button marked "Reemployment Services." Click on "Start or Re-Open an Unemployment Claim" and follow the prompts.
